From the Ashes

From the Ashes--A Spiritual Response to the Attack on America, a volume of essays published by Beliefnet/Rodale Books in the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks on America, features the commentary of spiritual leaders and global citizens from a wide spectrum of faiths and traditions. The book addresses the spiritual shock so keenly felt as a result of recent tragic events rather than their impact on national security and economics.

The volume includes an essay by SGI President Daisaku Ikeda, "The Evil Over Which We Must Triumph" (see a full reprint of the article here), one of about 70 contributions from writers representative of Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism and other religions.

The book's declared purpose is to help people move forward together toward healing and hope, by invoking many voices, many perspectives and a multifaceted spiritual search. All profits will go toward disaster relief.
