Gloria Band Wins Gold

The Soka Gloria Brass Band

The Soka Gloria Brass Band participated in the 51st All-Japan Brass Band Music Competition at the Utsunomiya City Culture Center in Tochigi Prefecture on October 19, winning top honors in the general section for the second consecutive year. Bandleader Tsunenori Yoshida said the victory was a crystallization of each member's persistent efforts toward achieving a personal goal, and he vowed to try for a third consecutive gold next year.

Soka University's Pioneer Brass Band won the silver award in the university section of the same contest, performing a selection from Daphnis et Chloé by Maurice Ravel.
