Book Donations

Tsinghua University's GST presents a certificate of appreciation to SGI-Hong Kong.

The Soka Gakkai has been donating books to elementary and junior high schools in remote villages throughout Japan since 1974 and, in total, has given 447,000 books to more than 1,000 schools. Among the first schools to receive books from the Soka Gakkai were Ohara Junior High School on Iriomotejima island and Irabu Elementary School on Irabujima island in Okinawa; and the 30th anniversary of the program was marked with further donations to these schools on April 19 and 20. The donated books covered such fields as literature, biography, history, science and sports. The donation program is designed to contribute to the cultural enrichment of Japan's young people.
