SGI members around the world have been celebrating the SGI's 30th anniversary.

SGI-USA held a national general meeting and culture festival at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu on January 22, attended by some 5,000 people. Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle sent a proclamation designating January 21-23, 2005, as "Aloha Peace Weekend" in commemoration of the anniversary and in honor of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda and Mrs. Ikeda's long-standing efforts to foster peace through dialogue.

On January 23, SGI-USA Hawaii sponsored the Aloha Peace Forum, a free public event held at the SGI-USA Hawaii Culture Center in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the United Nations and the SGI's 30th anniversary. In addition, the exhibition "Building a Culture of Peace for the Children of the World" opened at Honolulu City Hall.
SGI-USA also hosted a series of commemorative events on the island of Guam, where the International Buddhist League, the SGI's precursor, was founded on January 26, 1975.

Second Pacific Islands Peace Conference in Guam |
On January 14, SGI-USA and Soka University of America (SUA) cohosted the Second Pacific Islands Peace Conference in Tumon, Guam. University presidents and professors, representatives of peace and human rights organizations from the U.S. and the Pacific islands and many local residents participated in the conference.
On January 15, SGI-USA Guam Chapter hosted a celebratory culture festival in Adelup attended by over 300 people. The show included traditional dances of Guam, India, Japan and Korea.
