SGI-Bolivia held its second Bolivia Women's Summit at the Santa Cruz Convention Center on October 7 and 8. Some 1,000 women participated in the forum that featured lectures by women from various sectors of society on themes such as "Education for Shaping Global Citizens" and "A Life of Health." Sonia Vincenti de Costas, wife of the Santa Cruz governor, expressed her expectations for SGI-Bolivia women to lead the way toward women's empowerment in society.

Elsewhere, SGI-Indonesia sponsored its first Women's Peace Conference in Jakarta on August 27. The aim of the conference, titled "The World Is Yours to Change," was to promulgate a culture of peace through the solidarity of women. Over 700 women attended and a Peace Declaration was announced. SGI-Indonesia women's leader Gouw Sok Hun called on those present to help create a citadel of hope and assurance in Indonesian society.
