in Muscat learn about sustainable development |
"Seeds of Change: The Earth Charter and Human Potential," a
touring exhibition on sustainable development created by the
SGI, was held in two cities in the sultanate of Oman: in
Muscat from November 4-12; and in Sūr on November 16. Some
2,000 visitors, including many students, viewed the
exhibition, which was cosponsored by the Environment Society
of Oman (ESO). The Muscat opening was officiated by His
Highness Sayyid Tarik bin Al Said and Her Highness Sayyida
Tania bint Shabib Al Said, patron and president of ESO
respectively.
The exhibition was also on show in Lugano in southern
Switzerland from October 12 through 15 as part of the city's
"Month of Culture." The exhibit attracted more than 700
visitors, including students as well as local city officials
and educators.
"Seeds of Change" was also shown in Paraguay as part of a
cultural show at Universidad Americana in Asunción in
September. The event also featured music and cultural
performances.
On September 11, meanwhile, "Building a Culture of Peace for
the Children of the World," an exhibition created by SGI-USA
to advocate the values of peace and nonviolence, opened at
Palau Community College. The exhibition's message is that
each individual can make a difference as a protagonist in
the drama of building a culture of peace.
