Tree-planting in the Dominican Republic

The youth division of SGI-Dominican Republic participated in the Tree-planting Month promoted by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources on October 22. About 110 SGI members planted some 3,500 acacia trees in the Ozama River basin, about 80 kilometers from the capital, Santo Domingo.

The local youth division has for some time been promoting tree-planting projects as part of its environmental preservation movement, earning high praise from the Ministry. "To plant a tree is to plant life!" as one of the participants put it; planting acacias one by one is a symbol of hope for the future.
