The Toda Institute for Global Peace and Policy Research commemorated its seventh anniversary on February 11 by sponsoring the first meeting of the Middle East Peace Commission in Honolulu, Hawaii, on February 1-2. Organized with the support of the International Peace Research Association (IPRA), the gathering brought together many distinguished scholars, lawyers and diplomats committed to establishing a durable peace in the Middle East. Focusing on the international legal aspects of existing conflicts, the participants discussed issues concerning Iraq, Palestine and Kurdistan as well as military expansion, terrorism and human rights.
