SGI President WCCCI Adviser

The World Centers of Compassion for Children International (WCCCI), a children's rights advocacy organization founded by Nobel Peace Laureate Betty Williams, recently appointed SGI President Daisaku Ikeda to its advisory board in recognition of his long-standing commitment to peace and education.

WCCCI, based in Ireland, gives a political voice to children in areas of conflict, in addition to responding to children's emotional and material needs for such basic necessities as food, clothing and shelter. It aims to assist families in creating ideal, humanistic environments. The current advisory board includes such distinguished world leaders as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the Dalai Lama, Mikhail Gorbachev, Lech Walesa and futurist Hazel Henderson.
