Book Fairs

The Belgrade Book Fair

The 55th annual Frankfurt Book Fair, the world's largest international trade fair for books, multimedia and communications, was held in Frankfurt, Germany, from October 8-13. SGI registered for the event for the first time, with a stall promoting "The Power of Dialogue," displaying some 300 books. The event drew some 300,000 visitors, with exhibitors from 111 countries.

SGI-Canada participated in "The Word on the Street," an annual book and magazine street fair hosted in five Canadian cities, on September 28. SGI-Canada was represented in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Toronto. More than 2,000 visitors who attended the fair in Toronto stopped by SGI-Canada's booth, which introduced SGI-Canada's New Century magazine and other publications on SGI's peace, culture and education activities.

Meanwhile, a Serbian translation of Dialogue on Life by Daisaku Ikeda, published by Balkanska Gnoza of Belgrade, was introduced at the Belgrade Book Fair 2003 from October 21-27. The members of SGI-Serbia and Montenegro (former Yugoslavia) were also celebrating the organization's official registration.
