The Soleil Choir's performance
SGI-France women's division's Soleil Choir performed at the opening of "La Fête de la Musique (Festival of Music)" at Paris City Hall on June 20, singing six songs in the program's finale before an audience of 800. "La Fête de la Musique" originated in 1982 when then minister of culture Jack Lang invited musicians--amateurs and professionals alike--to perform for free in public venues such as parks, streets, railway stations and museums to celebrate the summer season. Similar events are now held in more than 120 countries.
