Youth Jazz Orchestra of Baden-Württemberg
As part of the "German Month" held in Malaysia in October to celebrate the 14th anniversary of the reunification of Germany, Soka Gakkai Malaysia (SGM), the German Embassy and other German institutions organized a series of events, including an art exhibition, "Diverse and One," which featured the works of four German artists living or studying in Malaysia. This was co-organized by the German Alumni Association and the Goethe Institute of Kuala Lumpur.
Nearly 1,200 people viewed the artwork on display at the SGM Grand Culture Center from October 3-10. Two SGM-supported concerts--by the 24-member Youth Jazz Orchestra of Baden-Württemberg and the a cappella ensemble amarcord--were also held at the SGM facility on October 12 and 21, drawing over 600 people.
A photography exhibition, "A Triple Joyful Celebration," held in tribute to the 30th anniversary of bilateral ties between China and Malaysia, opened at the SGM center on October 15. A panel discussion highlighting the two millennia of Sino-Malaysian exchange, chaired by the Federation of Chinese Associations in Malaysia deputy chief executive secretary Liew Kam Ba, was also held in conjunction with the exhibit.
