On December 7, 2006, the University of Palermo, Argentina, presented its Outstanding Building Award to the SGI-Argentina Peace Auditorium in Buenos Aires, recognizing the structure as the best building constructed in Argentina during the past 10 years. The building serves as a venue not only for SGI activities but also for community events such as concerts and symposia.

Corindo Testa, hailed as one of Argentina's most important architects, designed the building, which, since its completion in May 1996, has received much praise. In 1998, the building was nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award for Latin American Architecture and it is representative of leading-edge construction and building design in South America.

In an article published in La Nación, a national Argentine daily, Mr. Jordi Garcés, who chaired the award committee, was quoted as saying, "The true value of a building becomes clear with the passing of time. The Peace Auditorium is light and cheery, contemporary and classic at the same time."
