"Encouragement Campaign" in Iceland
In response to the impact of the global financial meltdown on Icelandic banks and the country's economy, SGI-Iceland members launched an "Encouragement Campaign" in early October, aimed at bolstering the spirits of those impacted by the crisis.
SGI-Iceland Young Women's Leader Eyrún Ósk Jónsdóttir commented, "We are sensing a lot of desperation among the general public here in Iceland. People are looking for something more secure to put their hearts into."
TV1, one of Iceland's three TV channels, invited SGI-Iceland General Director Eygló Jónsdóttir to join various religious leaders, politicians and renowned individuals in recording messages of inspiration to the people of Iceland at this difficult time. TV1 filmed a short message from Ms. Jónsdóttir in which she stressed that we each have limitless creative power inside of us which can enable us to surmount any difficulties.
