Nur University in Bolivia sponsored an interfaith symposium on "The Contribution of Religions to Peace" in Santa Cruz on October 18. The Bahá'í, Catholic, Islamic, Jewish and Buddhist traditions were among the religious groups represented at the event. Representing Buddhism, SGI-Bolivia shared the concept of "Human Revolution" and discussed SGI members' global contributions to the promotion of peace, culture and education.
In Panama, on September 30, SGI-Panama joined numerous other faiths in an exhibition of religious scriptures, at which the SGI group introduced the principal writings of Nichiren Daishonin in Spanish and Japanese, as well as works by SGI President Ikeda. The exhibition was a government-sponsored event organized in commemoration of the Day of the Bible in Panama. Opening the event, Prof. Dídimo Escobar of the National Assembly noted the importance of respecting religious freedom in order to develop a vital culture of peace.
