Two Singapore Soka Association (SSA) youth division representatives engaged in an interfaith session organized by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) at the Harmony Centre on May 23. The special session was held in conjunction with a visit by distinguished guest the Grand Mufti of Syria, Sheikh Ahmad Badr Al-Din Hassoun, a well-known promoter of interfaith dialogue, under MUIS's Distinguished Visitor Programme. His address at the event, attended by local youth leaders from various religious groups, focused on the role of youth in promoting interfaith exchanges.
During a question-and-answer session, one SSA representative asked how to enable the present generation of Singaporean youth to understand the importance of promoting racial and religious harmony when they had not personally experienced such disputes or conflicts. In response, the Grand Mufti stressed the importance of dialogue and taking the initiative to understand different religions and cultures, especially within the multiracial, multireligious context of Singapore.
