Youth at a VOV booth in Hawaii [World Tribune] "Victory Over Violence" (VOV) is an SGI youth initiative aimed at educating young people so that they can better identify and counteract the root causes of violence in their daily lives. On May 1, 2009, in Waianae on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, U.S.A., youth members of SGI-USA's Westside Area hosted SGI-USA's VOV exhibition at Nanakuli High and Intermediate School's Lei Day Festival.
In addition to explaining exhibit panels, youth members engaged festival goers in small group discussions centered on how each person can have a positive impact in their immediate environment. The youth also donated VOV brochures, buttons and bookmarks to the school.

At a public commemorative event attended by several thousand local residents, SGI-SA youth hosted an exhibition of South African heroes of human rights and presented materials showing the links between the passive violence of individuals and social violence. Dance and song performances by SGI-SA's Gauteng Chapter accompanied the event.
