On September 19, Soka Gakkai Malaysia (SGM) Perak representatives participated in an interfaith prayer event with the theme "Unity in Diversity in 1 Malaysia" organized by the Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism at Ipoh City Hall. The event was attended by approximately 1,000 people of diverse faiths. Prayers were offered by Buddhist monks, Christians, SGM members, Taoists, Hindus and Sikhs. After the prayers, various ethnic cultural dances were performed.

In a speech at the closing ceremony, Perak State Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir stressed that religion should not be used as a tool for confrontation and that people should try to find similarities rather than differences between one another.
