Art exhibition in Mongolia [©Seikyo Shimbun] On September 17, the "Mongolia-Japan Children's Friendship Art Exhibition" opened at the Choibalsan Public Kindergarten No. 12 in Choibalsan, Mongolia, with Mayor Enkhtsetseg Jargal, Zorig Foundation Executive Director B. Oyundari and 300 local citizens in attendance.
The exhibition consists of 50 works selected from paintings submitted by children from the kindergarten, as well as about 50 winning entries from last year's Soka Gakkai "Boys' and Girls' Hope Art Exhibition."
The kindergarten students performed songs and dances at the reception. One of the guests remarked, "This exhibition will open the path to exchanges between children from both countries in the future." The Soka Gakkai and the Zorig Foundation, a Mongolian nonprofit organization, donated audiovisual aids and books to the kindergarten.
In Brazil, meanwhile, the "Boys' and Girls' Art Exhibition," featuring art by children from Brazil and other countries and sponsored by SGI-Brazil, was on show at the Victor Brecheret Convention Center in Atibaia, São Paulo State, from September 1 to 26. The exhibition has toured Brazil since 1994.
Guests at the opening ceremony included Atibaia's Vice Mayor Ricardo dos Santos Antonio and President Josué Luiz de Oliveira of the municipal assembly, who stressed that the exhibition is an attempt to directly convey to viewers what children think and how they live by means of their pure and innocent artistic expressions.
